Indianapolis Attorney Faces Charges for Bilking Deceased Client
An Indianapolis attorney faces charges for misappropriating client estate funds.
A probable cause affidavit indicates David Rees admitted to diverting $270,000 from the estate of Benjamin Roberts who died eight years ago. He is also charged with obstruction of justice for filing an allegedly fraudulent "final accounting" of the estate.
The Marion County Prosecutor's office says Rees has agreed to plead guilty to both charges. If the plea bargain is accepted, he will face a maximum sentence of eight years in prison with $20,000 in fines. He would also have to make restitution for the missing funds.
