A man who shot and killed a woman and then took a three-year-old hostage has himself been killed by a police sniper in Fort Wayne.
A police spokeswoman tells the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette a protective order had been filed against 45-year-old Kenneth Knight in the past few days. Police say he dragged 49-year-old Jacqueline Bouvier Hardy off a city bus and shot her on a sidewalk about 25 feet away. He ran between houses through a neighborhood.
Hours later, police carried the three-year-old out of a house. Police Chief Rusty York told the paper Knight was killed by a single shot fired by the sniper.
