Indiana is honoring 50 of its oldest farms.
The twice-yearly Hoosier Homestead Awards celebrate family farms which have stayed in operation for more than a century. Five of this year's honorees celebrated their centennials last year -- and a farm in Liberty marked its bicentennial. Doug Swafford's family began working the land four years before Indiana became a state.
More than 4,000 Hoosier farms have been honored since Governor Otis Bowen began the awards in 1976.
