Volleyball Takes Over the Indiana Convention Center
One of the largest volleyball tournaments in the country is in Indianapolis this weekend.
Capitol Sports Volleyball's NIKE Mideast Qualifier has transformed the Indiana Convention Center. 800 teams from at least 29 states, and Puerto Rico, are playing on over 100 courts inside the convention center.
Capitol Sports Volleyball co-owner Ryan Bozell says about 30,000 people will attend the matches through Sunday. It's estimated to bring in 20-million dollars of economic impact to the city, mostly through the 21 to 22,000 hotel room nights. The 15 to 18 year old girls are performing in front of college coaches from across the country for potential scholarships. Three-time Olympic Gold Medal winner Misty May-Treanor also took in some early action.
Bozell says the top 2 to 3 teams in each division will qualify for the national tournament held in Dallas at the end of June.
