AAA Says Gas Prices Are Way Down
Many Hoosiers are on the road for spring break. That means they're enjoying lower gas prices.
AAA reports national average gas prices dropped in March for the first time 10 years. Hoosier Motor Club Spokesman Greg Seiter says gas prices are now 30 cents a gallon less than this time last year. The national average for regulard unleaded is now $3.63 a gallon compared to $3.92 a gallon last year.
In Indiana, that figure is now $3.61 compared to $4.00 a year ago. Gas prices hit a national high average on February 27th, topping out at $3.79. That's the highest average so far this year. Seiter says overall demand and crude oil prices are both down and the industry's switch to reformulated gas began much sooner this year. He says all of those factors have played roles in the overall drop. However, Seiter says unexpected turns could still occur in the marketplace.
