Dogs Tortured, One Killed at Bartholomew County Home

Residents of a home in the 600 block of Della Road in Bartholomew County returned home to a horrible scene Friday morning. Major Todd Noblitt with the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department says the residents' two small dogs were tortured.

Noblitt says the dogs, described as Maltese-Dachsund mixes, were inside the fenced-in yard surrounding the home. One of the dogs was gutted and killed, while the second one had a severe wound on it's body where it's internal organs were visible. That dog is expected to survive after being rushed to an area animal hospital.

A third dog, described as a "fluffy white puppy," was missing. Investigators believe it was taken by whoever was responsible for torturing the other dogs.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact Det. Chris Roberts with the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department at (812) 379-1722. You can also call the tip line anonymously at (812) 379-1712.
