With the proposed World Sports Park being presented to city leaders in Indianapolis, one cricket player says having the park host a large cricket tournament would be great for the city.
Parag Pandya with the Cricket Club of Indianapolis says there are already between 300 and 400 cricket players in Indiana and the sport keeps growing in the state. He says a large cricket tournament would bring a lot of people into Indianapolis from outside the state, especially if it's held on a national or international scale.
Pandya says cricket is one of the most popular sports in the world and hosting a tournament would put Indianapolis on the map in the cricket world along with cities like Chicago and Atlanta.
The idea for the World Sports Park was presented to the Indianapolis Board of Public Works on Wednesday. The 5.8-million dollar park would feature two cricket pitches along with other multi-sport fields.
