The chairman of the Indiana House Education Committee is not happy with the recent problems with the online ISTEP testing.
Bob Behning says under the contract the state has with CTB McGraw-Hill, the company was supposed to make sure they had the capacity to handle having a large number of students taking the test at once. That was the reason given for multiple interruptions in testing earlier this week.
Behning says it is frustrating for educators, students and the state. He says they want a product that is dependable and doesn't take any more time away from student learning.
Behning calls the testing problems unacceptable and says there will be a high level of scrutiny to make sure this doesn't happen again. He says they will also make sure CTB is, quote, held accountable for their failure.
