Security Changes at IMS for Race Day
There will be new rules at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this year.
IMS VP of Communications Doug Boles says they will be strictly enforcing rules for coolers this year. Boles says no coolers bigger than 18x14x14 will be allowed inside. Fans will be asked to take it back to their vehicle. IMS officials also will not allow coolers to be left at the side of the gate because they don't want unattended coolers sitting anywhere.
There is also a change in parking on race day. Boles says fans will also need a parking pass to get into the infield. You will not need a parking pass for the rest of the month. Boles says the change allows people to know they are guaranteed a parking spot, and he feels it will also alleviate some traffic problems because race fans won't need to line up at 2am to get a parking spot.
Boles says the move will also allow IMS officials to have contact information for everyone that parks in the infield.
