Indy Social Media Expert Sizes Up Facebook Teen Exodus
A new Pew Research study shows teens are leaving Facebook in droves. Why? The study says they're trying to get away from their parents on Facebook and they don't like the advertising and invasion of privacy.
Steven Shattuck is Vice President of Bloomerang.co and says other social media networks like Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr are benefitting from the teen Facebook exodus. He adds teens are also turning to smaller, niche social media networks. Facebook still has almost 1 billion subscribers. Shattuck says saavy parents will simply continue to follow their kids on social media and monitor their activities.
Ultimately, Shattuck says he believes Facebook and other social media networks will fade away and be replaced by new things which has been the online trend.
