Former Homeless Woman and Others Grauduate High School
A young Indianapolis woman is beating the odds.
21-year-old Bethany Lutes will be among 22 young people - most of whom are homeless - who've earned their GEDs or high school diplomas and are graduating from Outreach Inc.'s education program. Lutes says she's no longer homeless and now works in daycare. However, she studied for the GED while living in shelters. She says it was hard, but she did it. She plans to attend Ivy Tech and study early childhood education come Fall.
Outreach services homeless kids. National studies show that 75 percent of homeless young people have dropped out of school. The special graduation ceremony takes place this Saturday, June 15th at Post Road Christian Church in Indianapolis.
