Eight people were taken to area hospitals after a crash on the city's north side Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened just after 4 p.m. near 39th Street and Keystone Avenue involving a minivan and SUV.  Police have not revealed details on the crash but witnesses tell our news gathering partners at RTV6 that the SUV ran a red light while traveling northbound on Keystone, hit a curb and ran into another vehicle, causing it to turn on its side.

The driver of the SUV, 33-year-old Deandra Anderson, and two children were taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital.  Two other children were taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.  Their conditions are not known.  The driver of the minivan, 45-year-old Jody Long, and two passengers were taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

IMPD is investigating the cause of the crash.
