Thousands gathered in downtown Indy for the Donato's Downtown Freedom Blast.
It was a much cooler day than last year as people from all over came to the Indiana War Memorial to watch the annual downtown fireworks spectacular. Diane Hildebrand decided it would be a good year to return to the event.
"Years ago, we used to come every year and then we kind of took a break. It's been about five years or so and then we came back again," Hildebrand said. "It's really neat. It's just amazing. We brought our grandkids this time and they've been enthralled in all the kids stuff so we had a great day."
Many people enjoyed how much the event has grown over the past few years. The night was capped off by the 20-minute fireworks display including the revamped Hoosier Lottery grand finale which had people on their feet at the end.
