Prosecutor Says Richmond Hill Trio Should Face Same Trial

7/10/2013

The lead prosecutor in the Richmond Hill Subdivision explosion case says the three defendants should face the same trial.

Listen:

Marion County Deputy Prosecutor Denise Robinson says Monserrate Shirley, her boyfriend Mark Leonard and his brother Bob Leonard acted together and should be tried together. Robinson's spoke following another pre-trial hearing for the trio in Marion County Criminal Court Wednesday. Robinson's comments come as at least two of the defendants attorneys appeared poised to file motions for separate trials.

Shirley's attorney Jim Voyles says the issues for separate trials will be clear once motions are filed. Defense attorneys are also seeking dismissal of life without parole charges, but Robinson says the law dictates life without parole if they're convicted. The trio has another pre-trial hearing set for August 14th at 1 pm.
