Car Found Running in Broad Ripple Canal

Police Searching for Missing Driver


IMPD officers are looking for the driver of a car found partially submerged in a north side canal early Saturday.

According to a statement from IFD, a young woman was driving down Westfield Blvd. near College Ave. in Broad Ripple around 4:30 this morning and spotted the Buick SUV in in the canal with water up to the windows.

That woman told investigators she saw a man on the road in wet clothes. She circled back to check on him he offered her money for a ride to Fishers.

According to IFD the young woman declined and the soggy driver set off on foot, heading northbound.

Metro police officers were called in to run the license plate of the submerged vehicle and try and track down the driver.
