A single engine plane crashed into a home located in the 2200 block of Broadmoor Lane around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Columbus Public Safety spokesman Lt. Matt Myers says when first responders arrived shortly after they got the call, they noticed a lot of smoke coming from the home. Myers says the plane's pilot and passenger were able to escape the wreckage, with one saying "Thank God I'm alive."
It's unknown as to who was flying the plane when it crashed, but the pilot and passenger were both treated at the scene. One was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital, then airlifted to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis. The other person was taken straight to Wishard Hospital.
The plane was based out of Columbus, and one of the two people on board is from Columbus. Names are not being released until family members are notified. Damage was done to the south side of the home. Some neighboring homes suffered some slight damage.
Federal authorities are on their way to Columbus to investigate.
