IMPD Posting Civilian Openings
Indianapolis Public Safety Director Troy Riggs says the city is about to hire ten IMPD civilians.
Riggs says the plan is to hire them by November and move a lieutenant and eight officers back to street patrols. He says they'll fill 35 more civilian positions next year, a move that'll save $2.5 million per year. Riggs says over the next year, they'll place 40 officers back on street patrols.
He says the city will post the next positions in a couple of weeks and they hope to have the first ten positions filled by January the latest.
