Parents Receive ISTEP Scores
Parents and teachers now have access to their kids' ISTEP scores.
Schoolwide results won't be released till next month, but you can learn your child's score by going online.
Monroe County Community Schools spokeswoman Beverly Smith says to consider the ISTEP score alongside your child's classroom grades and performance on other standardized tests. She says it's an important score, but still just one piece of the puzzle.
This year's test was marred by computer problems which interrupted the test for at least some students in nearly all Indiana schools. The state says its review of test scores found just under 1,400 it considers suspect. Those scores will have a note attached explaining they won't count.
Hamilton Southeastern assistant superintendent Beth Niedermeyer recommends checking with your child's teacher or principal if this year's score is significantly lower than last year's, whether because of suspicions the computer glitches caused problems or for some other reason.
