Woman in D.C. Pursuit Identified
(Washington, DC) -- The woman involved in today's pursuit in Washington, DC is being identified as 34-year old Miriam Carey of Stamford, Connecticut.
Police identify her as the person behind the wheel of a car she was trying to force through a White House security fence. The dental hygienist described by sources as having a history of mental illness, was shot and killed by police following a chase which started near the White House and ended near the U.S. Capitol Building.
One Secret Service officer was hit by her car and a Capitol Police officer was hurt when he drove his vehicle into a barricade during the chase. Law enforcement sources say the woman did not have a gun.
