A convicted child molester faces more charges now after a scuffle inside a Johnson County courtroom Tuesday.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Department says Michael Sloan had just been convicted of child molesting and the judge had revoked Sloan's bond and remanded him into custody. Sloan requested to hug his family before being taken back to jail and was denied.
According to a police report, Sloan ignored the judge's order and became involved in a scuffle with a deputy who tried to handcuff him. Both the deputy and an Edinburgh Police officer tased Sloan, who was able to pull the barbs from the TASER off his body and the Edinburgh officer finally got Sloan under control.
Sloan was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital for evaluation and was later taken to the Johnson County Jail with no bond. He now faces a preliminary charge of battery.
EMS personnel were also called to the courtroom after Sloan's mother collapsed after complaining of chest pains. She was checked out by medics but refused treatment.
