An Indiana State Trooper is in jail following allegations that he had sex with a juvenile.
State Police received an anonymous tip on August 28 alleging that Isaac Martinez, a five-and-a-half year veteran of Indiana State Police, had sex with a 14-year-old girl. State Police Captain Dave Bursten says Martinez was arrested after a six-week investigation.
Martinez faces two 'B' felony charges of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor. Those charges allege Martinez had sex with the girl. He also faces one 'C' felony charge of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor which alleges improper touching.
An warrant for Martinez' arrest was issued on October 11 and Martinez was arrested without incident in Morris, Illinois. He's currently being held in the Grundy County jail awaiting extradition back to Marion County. Bursten says extradition is expected to occur sometime next week.
Martinez has been placed on administrative leave without pay. Bursten says Indiana State Police is appalled by this allegation and says it is not representative of Indiana State Police as a whole.
