The IU Lilly School of Philanthropy is celebrating a million dollar gift.

They're set to announce this evening that Mel Simon's daughter, Cindy Simon Skjodt has donated $1.5 million for the creation of the Melvin Simon Chair in Philanthropy.

Lilly School Spokesperson Adriene Kalugyer says the gift means the school now has five endowed chairs named for local Indianapolis philanthropists. The new chair will help the school attract world class faculty and promote philanthropy throughout the world.
