A $25 million Broad Ripple re-development project is a step closer to reality.
By a vote of five to two, developers won a rezoning variance. The project includes a controversial, 33-thousand square foot Whole Foods grocery store, 108 apartments and commercial space just north of Broad Ripple Boulevard and 63rd Street.
Good Earth Natural Food Company Owner Rudy Nehrling argued against the project saying it would ruin the unique character of Broad Ripple. However, Developer Jamie Browning says the project will provide an economic boost to the area. Browning says the project still needs architectural and economic development financing approval. City Council must also give it the green light.
