An Indianapolis man is behind bars and charged with 16 counts of False Reporting.
IMPD Spokesman Lt. Chris Bailey says they arrested 20-year-old Andre Richardson. He says Richardson is responsible for making numerous false 911 calls. He says Richardson's calls resulted in 70 actual police, fire and ems runs to fake situations and took up 23 hours of public service time. Fake calls ranged from a stolen vehicle to a hostage situation.
Bailey says Richardson faces false reporting is a misdemeanor, but the true goal of the charges is send a message to the public that 911 is not a toy. Richardson is being held in the Marion County Jail.
