After two people were found days after they had died, investigators said they are now trying to determine who they are and how they died.
Indiana State Police said detectives are investigating the death of two people found just after 10 p.m. Saturday on a private property near U.S. Highway 150 and Pennington Road in Vigo County.
Investigators said people were riding ATVs in the area when they found two partially decomposed bodies under a small bridge roughly 150 yards south of Pennington Road that leads to an abandoned residence at 7400 W. Pennington Road.
ISP said a white pickup truck was found at the scene, and detectives believe it belongs to one of the victims, who appear to have been deceased for a few days.
Investigators said the two bodies appear to be an adult male and adult female of middle age or older, but due to the decomposition, identifying them will take a few days. Autopsies are set for Monday.
ISP said it’s believed the victims were in a relationship and there is no threat to public safety in the area.
The case is still under investigation.
