Franciscan Alliance Announces Job Cuts
Yet another Indiana-based health system is announcing major job cuts.
Franciscan Alliance is laying off 275 workers at 11 hospitals statewide. Franciscan Alliance Spokesman Joe Stuteville says 83 of the 275 positions are in Indianapolis. Stuteville says the move is designed to save at least 15% or $375 million over the next three years to remain viable. He cites shrinking reimbursements, new payer models and changes brought about by the Affordable Care Act.
Stuteville says the cuts take effect immediately and Franciscan Alliance is aiding those who are losing their jobs. Franciscan Alliance currently employs 20,000 people system wide.
