A man from Cory, Indiana faces ten felony charges after police found numerous weapons, bombs and other items Monday at a home in the 1400 block of South County Road 425 West.
Indiana State Police say a search warrant executed at the home and officers found items used in the cultivation of marijuana and about 140 grams of suspected marijuana. They also found numerous guns, ammunition, five homemade plastic pipe bombs and a "cricket" bomb made from a CO2 cartridge. Police also found a stolen Polaris ATV and a harvested deer taken out of season.
49-year-old Steven A. Smith was arrested and taken to the Clay County Jail. He faces 13 total charges, ten felonies and three misdemeanors, including six counts of Possession of Destructive Device and two marijuana charges.
The investigation began after troopers conducting a flyover of the property found ten marijuana plants. Smith also had a no contact order issued by the Vigo County Court which prohibited him from possessing firearms, deadly weapons or ammunition. One of the misdemeanor charges Smith faces includes violating that no contact order.
The explosive devices were rendered safe by an ISP bomb squad. The harvested deer was confiscated by Indiana Conservation Officers for their investigation into wildlife violations.
