Accused Serial Killer Found Guilty; Faces Death Penalty

10/25/2013

Accused serial killer William Clyde Gibson has been found guilty for the murder of 75-year-old Christine Whitis.

Listen:

The jury, brought into New Albany from Dearborn County, deliberated for about 15 minutes before coming back with the finding that Gibson is guilty of murder.  Gibson was accused of killing Whitis as well as Stephanie Kirk and Karen Hodella.

Gibson showed no emotion sitting at the defendant's table.  Relatives of Whitis held back tears, some looking down, others clinching Bibles.

The penalty phase in this case, which includes the death penalty, will begin at 9 a.m. Monday.

Gibson still faces separate trials for the murders of Kirk and Hodella.  Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson says he is also seeking the death penalty in the Kirk case, but not the Hodella case.
