Indiana Preparing For Growing Senior Population
Indiana is joining other states in trying to address the fast growing senior population.
Indiana's senior population now stands at 800,000. The nation's above 65 population will more than double from 40 million in 2010 to 89 million in 2050.
Indianapolis-based CICOA Aging and In Home Solutions CEO Orion Bell says nearly ten thousand people turn 65 every day across the nation. Bell says the state is currently trying to address the need of seniors in the areas of transportation, housing and health care. Bell says more and more localities are looking at ways to make existing communities more livable and accessible for seniors.
