DPS Director Recalls Richmond Hill
Cites "Homegrown" Security Threat
Indianapolis Public Safety Director Troy Riggs says "homegrown" security issues like the one at Richmond Hill are a bigger threat than foreign terrorist attacks against America.
This comes as Richmond Hill residents observe the one-year anniversary of the explosion Sunday. the blast resulted in the deaths of two people, wounded many others and damaged dozens of homes. Riggs says the incident led Mayor Greg Ballard to consolidate the investigation under the Indianapolis Department of Homeland Security.
He adds that many lessons remain from the Richmond Hill incident and says residents played a crucial role in helping first responders. Residents and city leaders are holding a special, closed to the public observance early Sunday evening.
