The Johnson County Sheriff's Department confirms that two bodies have been recovered from the rubble of a Friday night house fire in Ninevah.

According to Sherriff Doug Cox, those bodies have not been identified. Two children, a six-month old boy and 18-month old girl had been missing since the fire.

The first victim was recovered by firefighters sifting through the rubble. The second victim was recovered by a cadaver dog called to the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.

A mother and her five-year-old daughter originaly escaped the fire but the mother told firefighters that her two younger children may still be inside.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Department says firefighters were called to the home in the 1000 block of East County Road 775 South in Ninevah. The mother, who was badly burned while trying to go back into the home to rescue the other two children, was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital and later flown to Wishard Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis.

Law enforcement officials attempted to enter the home but were pushed back by the flames and smoke.

The fire remains under investigation.
