U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett announced three new prosecutions as part of the continuing Violent Crime Initiative saga.

The three men are all convicted felons with long criminal histories and were found in illegal possession of firearms. They include 26-year-old Christopher Walbert of Montgomery County, 22-year-old Daniel Bowen and 39-year-old Thomas Montgomery of Indianapolis. The cases are separate, but are part of the overall federal initiative. Hosgett says so far, more than 300 defendants have been charged since the initiative began in 2011.

New Special Agent-in-Charge for the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Mike Boxley says the bureau will redouble its efforts in 2014 to identify violent felons who use firearms and bring them in for prosecution.
