Daycare Owner Arrested for Allegedly Drugging Children

The owner of a daycare center has been arrested after police believe she drugged four children in her care.

Stephanie Gribbles was arrested early this (Friday) morning by Indianapolis Police.  IMPD Lieutenant Chris Bailey says police began investigating after four children from three different families were taken to hospitals on Wednesday after they came home from the "Stay and Play Daycare" on the far east side.

"All four children arrived at the emergency room displaying symptoms of an acute dystonic reaction," Bailey said.  "Based on the medical evidence, statements made and items seized during the execution of a search warrant, investigators believe the children were given some combination of over-the-counter and prescription medication."

The preliminary charge against Gribbles is neglect of a dependent, but Bailey says evidence will be given to the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, which will determine the final charges.
