Humane Society gets a big gift

Ain't they cute?  Homeless animals in Boone County got a shot in the paw, thanks to a generous gift made to the county Humane Society at a fund-raiser on Saturday. A six-point-two acre building site has been donated for the future location of the Boone County Humane Society's Rescue and Adoption Shelter facility. The facility will be the Society's first public shelter since it began operations seven years ago. In addition to the donation of land for the shelter, public donations of $300-thousand have poured in and will help to build the shelter. Society president Mike Hancock said a fund-raising drive for $1.5-Million is underway.
