Miss America Katie Stam is returning to her southern Indiana hometown of Seymour for the first time since being crowned in January.

Seymour Mayor Craig Ludeman has proclaimed Wednesday as “Miss America Katie Stam Day” in the city.

The 22-year-old will be welcomed back this afternoon with a parade from Seymour High School to City Hall and make other Indiana appearances in the following days.

She won't be able to stay at the home of parents, Keith and Tracy Stam, because of Miss America guidelines, but they are eager for a reunion after her travels across the country since the winning the title January 24 in Las Vegas.

The University of Indianapolis student is the first winner of the 88-year-old pageant to come from Indiana.
