IMPD is investigating a bicyclist that was hit and killed on the southwest side late Monday night.

IMPD Sgt. Paul Thompson says the accident happened at Heathrow Way and Kentucky Avenue shortly before 10:30 p.m.

The semi was southwest bound and had the green light at the intersection and the cyclist rode into the path of the semi.

17-year-old Eduard Whetstone, a junior at Decatur Central High School, was apparently riding his bike home from a friend's house when he was hit by the semi.

Thompson says the 41-year-old truck driver from Ohio was not hurt.

The investigation is ongoing, but police say the semi driver was not intoxicated. They also say the Whetstone was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and may have been listening to an iPod at the time of the crash.
