IMPD Officer First to Testify at His Shooter's Trial

Following opening statements Tuesday morning, testimony is underway at the attempted murder trial of Brian Reese.  And IMPD officer Jason Fishburn was the first to testify against the man who shot him.

Listen:

Fishburn tried to describe his current duties with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The officer captured the attention of the jurors more with how he spoke and how he moved, rather than what he said. His movements were slow in and out of the courtroom and his speech is still somewhat slurred.

The officer told the court he doesn't remember much of what happened the day he was shot in the head.

Fishburn's wife Tonya immediately followed her husband in the witness stand and told the court that while Jason has made tremendous progress since the shooting, doctors do not expect him to improve much more. Tonya recalled signing the consent form for the brain surgery that saved his life.

Police officers who were with Jason Fishburn are also testifying about the events that led to the chase of Brian Reese when he fired his gun, striking Fishburn in the head.
