The University of Indianapolis will be the site of a 20,000-square-foot training facility for the 2012 Super Bowl.
The host committee had previously planned on building the domed structure on the campus of Tech High School, but decided to change plans to save money.
UIndy's new field is where the NFC champion will practice prior the NFL's biggest game of the year, but will also be used by the Greyhound football team for practice.
Tech will still get a multi-million dollar makeover that includes a green-themed community center and renovation of its current football field on the city's near-eastside.
University of Indianapolis officials had already started to raise money for a new practice field prior to the deal with the NFL.
Plans call for the facility to include meeting rooms, coaches' offices and an adjoining softball field.
Construction is set to begin in May. Completion is scheduled for the fall.
