City Delays Plan to Close Monument Circle

The City of Indianapolis is backing off on plans to close Monument Circle to vehicular traffic.

If the plan would have gone through, starting in August the circle would have been open to pedestrians only. But the city says its timeline for the project was too aggressive.
The plan isn't scrapped; they're just tapping the brakes a bit to give the city some extra time to meet with stakeholders. There’s a new timeline to temporarily close the circle in the summer of 2011.
