Embattled Indianapolis financier Tim Durham is linked to an FBI investigation into companies suspected of a practice known as "cramming". That's where a company adds extra charges to someone's telephone bill without authorization.

According to the Indianapolis Business Journal, the FBI on Tuesday raided Minnesota-based Alternate Billing Corp, wich adds charges to customer phone bills on behalf of the companies, purportedly with permission from consumers.

IBJ reporter Cory Schouten says Durham has linked to that company and several others on a list released by the FBI.

The FBI is asking consumers who thinks they've been victimized to contact the bureau by logging on to www.FBI.gov.
