Republican Party Will Not Return Durham's Donations

3/17/2011

The Indiana Republican Party has no plans to return an estimated $200,000 in political contributions made by embattled businessman Tim Durham.

Party spokesman Pete Seat says Durham hasn't donated since 2008, so the money already has been spent.

A bankruptcy trustee reveals Durham made more than $800,000 in total political contributions over the years -- most of it going toward Republican candidates at the local, state and federal levels.

Durham is accused in a federal grand jury indictment of defrauding investors through his loan company and using the money to support expensive homes and cars, a 100-foot yacht and travel on a personal jet.
