Super Bowl Legacy Housing Project Continues

Realtors join to clean up eastside neighborhood

Dozens of realtors canvassed the St. Clair Place neighborhood Thursday morning, doing yard work and picking up trash as part of the Super Bowl 2012 Legacy Housing Project.

The area near the John H. Boner Community Center at 10th and Jefferson on the near east side will have 32 refurbished or new homes in it.  Realtor Foundation President Joyce Skotten says several families are already living in their new homes.

Claire Belby with the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors (MIBOR) says many of the families getting the rehabbed homes are battling homelessness.

Belby says, even if the big game doesn't happen, the homes will provide a lasting legacy to the near east side.  The Realtor Foundation pledged $500,000 to the "Building a Living Legacy" project.

The fate of the 2011-2012 NFL regular season remains up in the air.
