Voters did not approve of the referendum to raise property taxes in Franklin Township.
64% of the voters said "no" to the referendum, which would have imposed a seven-year property tax increase of no more than 75 cents on every 100 dollars of assessed value.
Since the referendum did not pass, it will mean elimination of all general transportation, art, music and physical education teachers from elementary schools and orchestra from secondary schools in the Franklin Township School Corporation.
Three schools will be closed including Acton and Wanamaker elementary schools and Franklin Township Middle School West.
28 elementary school employees, 10 high school teachers and benefits for some non-certified employees will also be eliminated.
