A device called the Rescue Reel, designed to help people escape from high buildings, is being manufactured in Indiana.
The device was invented by Dr. Kevin Stone, an orthopedic surgeon from San Francisco, and was inspired from the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11. Dr. Stone says the first batch of Rescue Reels are being manufactured in Indianapolis and they're looking to possibly make more.

"We haven't settled on a final manufacturing team yet but we're exploring the opportunities in Indiana since there's such an incredible range of expertise there and also knowledge about producing novel devices such as this."
The user of the Rescue Reel gets into a harness which is connected to the device and clips the device to something sturdy inside the building. The user is then lowered to the ground on a strong kevlar line. The Rescue Reel can be used in heights of up to 100 stories.
Dr. Stone says the Rescue Reel can be especially helpful for disabled or elderly occupants of high buildings who need to get out in an emergency.
