Chuck Todd To Replace David Gregory On "Meet The Press" Next Month

(Undated) -- Gregory is out and Todd is in as the new moderator for NBC's "Meet The Press." The network has confirmed earlier reports suggesting that its chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd would take over the post helmed by David Gregory over the past six years. Gregory announced he was leaving NBC via Twitter Thursday. NBC News President Deborah Turness followed up with an internal memo announcing that Gregory was leaving the network after "an exceptional 20 years" and that Todd would begin his "Meet The Press" duties on September 7th. Gregory took over as moderator after the sudden death of Tim Russert in 2008. In his exit statement he said he was leaving NBC as he came in - "humbled and grateful."

Turness also mentioned in her memo that Andrea Mitchell would sit in as moderator for this Sunday's edition of the political talk show and would continue to be a central figure of the broadcast along with other names that will be announced in the coming days.
