J. Cole Delivers Musical Tribute To Ferguson Teen Michael Brown

(Undated) -- Hip-hop star J. Cole is offering up a musical tribute to the young man at the center of a divided community in Ferguson, Missouri.
 
Cole has released a new song, titled "Be Free," in response to the police crackdown and protests following the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown last Saturday. He also wrote on his website that he was "tired of being desensitized to the murder of black men," adding, "We become numb. I became numb. But not anymore. That coulda been me, easily. It could have been my best friend." As of Friday afternoon, Cole's "Be Free" had already received more than 200-thousand plays on Soundcloud.

In response to the protests that have rocked Ferguson all week, police there released a surveillance video Friday that appears to show Michael Brown robbing a store of cigars before he was shot by police later that day. Police also released the name of the officer who shot Brown, Darren Wilson.
