Michael J. Fox "Stunned" By Robin Williams' Parkinson's Diagnosis

(Undated) -- Reacting to the revelation that Oscar winner Robin Williams had been battling Parkinson's Disease at the time of his death, fellow actor and Parkinson's fighter Michael J. Fox says he was "stunned." Fox tweeted Thursday that he was pretty sure that Robin's support for his foundation predated the diagnosis revealed by Robin's wife hours earlier. He added, "A true friend; I wish him peace." Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1991 but didn't disclose his condition until several years later.

In a statement Thursday, Williams' widow Susan Schneider shared that while his sobriety was intact, Robin bravely struggled with his battles of depression and anxiety, as well as early stages of Parkinson's Disease, which she says he was not yet ready to share publicly. Schneider added the family's hopes that others find the strength to seek the care and support they need to treat whatever battles they're facing.
