Netflix Surpasses HBO In Subscriber Revenue

(Undated) -- Netflix is now streaming past HBO in subscribers. It's a slight edge in subscription revenue but just enough for Netflix CEO Reed Hastings to declare it a "Minor Milestone." In a Facebook post, Hastings shared that the video streaming service brought in one-point-one-four-six-billion in revenue to HBO's one-point-one-four-one-billion last quarter. Hastings acknowledged that HBO is still far ahead of Netflix in terms of overall profits and Emmy nominations, but also said the video streaming service is making progress and that they're honored to be in the same league.

Netflix's original series "House of Cards" and "Orange Is The New Black" are competing with a number of HBO series in multiple categories at this month's Emmy Awards. The Emmys will be presented on Monday, August 25th.
