Report: Joan Rivers Being Brought Out Of Coma

(New York, NY) -- Joan Rivers is reportedly being brought out of her medically-induced coma, although it could take a few days for doctors to determine her status. A source tells the "New York Daily News" "the waking up process has begun" but doctors won't know until Tuesday, at the earliest, the extent of the damage. The source says the real concern is that the part of the brain that controls the comedienne's motor skills may have been compromised to the point that it could leave her in a vegetable state or in a wheelchair.

In a statement issued Sunday, Rivers' daughter Melissa Rivers said they were "keeping their fingers crossed," hoping for the best and thanked the public for their support and prayers. The 81-year-old comedy legend was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City Thursday after reportedly going into cardiac arrest during a medical procedure. She has been unconscious ever since.
