Report: Nicole Wallace, October Gonzalez Leading "View" Candidates

(Undated) -- Reports are circling relative unknowns Nicolle Wallace and October Gonzalez as frontrunners to join Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell at "The View's" "Hot Topics" table next season. Britain's "Daily Mail" says Wallace and Gonzalez left the best impression among a shortlist of candidates invited to try out for a co-hosting job after Thursday's taping of the ABC talk show. Wallace, a political commentator who served as communications chief for former President George W. Bush, is reportedly expected to fill the show's "conservative" hot seat. Gonzalez is the wife of former NFL star Tony Gonzalez. ABC has not made any official announcements as yet.

Entertainment journalist Lauren Sanchez is also said to be in the running for one of the two co-host positions vacated by Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd. Coincidentally, Lauren also has a 13-year-old son with October's current husband Tony who she dated a few years before he married October. The two women are said to be friends.
